About in late 2013 ago we picked our gorgeous new puppy “Joey” from Fran who runs WAG in Kigali; search facebook for the group and contact details. We moved to Kimihurura and then Gikondo and consequently we trekked all over the nearby hills with Joey in tow…
Kimihurura Walks
Walk 1 – Off the lead near PM’s Office
A quick hop, skip and jump up the hill and you arrive a patch of grass where we let Joey of the lead. Yes, off the lead in central Kigali!
Walk 2 – Camp JP Round
Camp JP, no not me, is located just of the prime minster’s roundabout. This walk skirts Camp JP and goes round the bottom of the valley. Expect a greenish walk and a small jump halfway through!
Walk 3 – Circling the Cercle de Sportif
This walk just continued and continued. We set off to explore the small parks near car wash roundabout but it was so pleasant we continued all around the Cercle de Sportif.
Walk 4 – Avocado Adventure
An avocado odyssey. Fill your boots!
Gikondo Walks
The moved from Kimihurura and Gikondo meant one thing: a whole new area to explore. So Joey and I set off trekking all over the nearby hills and valleys…
Walk 1 – Kicukiro Ramble
Get a real sense of Kicukiro by slicing through the area. For those so inclined there is the Nyanza Memorial Centre. Enjoy!
Walk 2 – Juru Park Jaunt
Juru Park is a little oasis on top of one of the many hills in Kigali. Hike up there!
Walk 3 – Gikondo Market March
Gikondo market is a small little gem of a market over looking a small valley. Joey and I passed through market and then had a great time walking around the beautiful valley.
Walk 4 – Valley Crisscross
Valley Crisscross was an exploration… watch out for the school kids!
